Tracy Doyle, manager of Sweeets, has filled her store at 1935 Palmer Ave. in Larchmont with a fresh and colorful assortment of holiday-themed treats. They're ideal as gifts for anyone craving candy as well as creative centerpieces and place settings for parties, weddings and other special occasions. (That's not a typo in the name of the store, by the way.)

Doyle, who lives in New Rochelle, opened the store in June 2015 at the former Sweet & Social spot on Palmer Avenue.

Doyle previously worked remotely on parties and events with family member Dana Schulman, who owns Sweeets in New Preston, Conn. Schulman also owns the Sweeets store in Larchmont.

"Candy is a happy thing," Doyle told Daily Voice shortly after the Larchmont store opened: Her store reflects that with a sunny look bursting with pink walls, vibrant yellow and orange splashes, and shelves full of rainbow-hued candy. Red, green and gold mixed with chocolate brown now grace the shelves during the holiday season.

Sweeets sells candy from around the world, including items that are gluten-free, sugar-free and vegan. Aside from its wide assortment, the store prides itself on its fancy packaging. That's where Doyle's background in fashion emerges.

In addition to traditional candy canes and lollipops, the store is now stocked with popular items such as peppermint bark and lots of variations of chocolate-covered pretzels.

"We always sell fudge and truffles," Doyle said, but their popularity "is huge this time of year."

There also are unique and affordable candy gifts for that special teacher, coach or dog walker in your life.

For that special someone you'd really like to spoil, there are fancier, edible 24-caret gold candy items that sell for $6.50 to $13.50 apiece.

Tasting for free is encouraged.

The store's regular hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday hours are from noon to 4 p.m. for anyone needing more time to shop. "We will be open the full week before Christmas as well,'' Doyle said.
