Those who know Phil DeRosa from his many years behind the fish counters in various Mamaroneck locations --- first at Imperial Seafood (for 20 years) and then later at The Smokehouse (eight years) -- will be happy to know he's opened his own shop, Mamaroneck Seafood on Halstead Avenue.
The Dutchess County resident quietly opened his new storefront Wednesday, Nov. 1 and is primarily operating via word-of-mouth.
"Folks around here know me," he said. "Some still remember me from my Imperial Seafood days."
Mamaroneck Seafood, which he is the sole owner of, specializes in fresh seafood, smoked fish and caviar. DeRosa said he is also known for his customized platters, which work well for the holidays as well as shivas and other events.
The shop also carries a curated section of specialty imported groceries and meats such as duck confit and foie gras. You'll also find prepared foods and soups.
Mamaroneck Seafood is at 630 Halstead Ave., 914-777-FISH (3474). Like the store on Facebook and get $10 off your next order.
