HARRISON, N.Y. -- The International Association of Home Staging Professionals (IAHSP) recently presented Harrison resident Claire Palermo Flower with its “Best Occupied Home Staging Award."
Flower was given the award at the IAHSP Educational Conference in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., where hundreds of Home Stagers from across North America, Europe and Asia gathered.
Home Staging® is the act of preparing a house for sale in the real estate market in order to make a home appealing to the highest number of potential buyers, thereby selling a property more quickly and for more money, according to a release from IAHSP.
The award was presented for Flower’s work on a Whippoorwill Road, Rye Brook home. The home sold within a few days of being staged for sale, the release said.
Flower is the owner and Principal Stager of Allegory Home Staging. She and her team have staged nearly $200 million worth of homes and professional offices for sale or rent in Westchester and Fairfield Counties and in Southampton, Long Island; New York City and Boston.
In addition to Staging for Sale, Flower also offers redesign services and Staging for Living for those who have recently moved or for those who “just have too much stuff.”
Flower is a member of IAHSP-Premier Designation and has been an Accredited Staging Professional Master (ASPM) since 2008; she was personally taught by the creator of Home Staging, Barbara Schwarz.
Flower offered this tip for anyone thinking of selling a home: “Try to look at your house through a buyer’s eyes, as though you’ve never seen it before. This exercise will help you see what needs to be done to improve it. Time and money invested on these items will usually bring you the return of more money and a quicker sale.”
According to IAHSP, on average, 95 percent of homes staged by an Accredited Staging Professional (ASP) or ASPM sell in 11 days or less and sell for 17 percent more. Non-staged homes average 90 days on the market.
The National Association of Realtors (NAR) Profile of Home Staging reports that 96 percent of buyers’ agents say staging has an effect on how buyers view a home and that 81 percent of buyers say a staged home is easier to visualize as their home.
In addition, NAR said 52 percent of buyers are willing to pay more for a staged property.
