HARRISON, N.Y. -- County, state and local officials welcomed the grand opening Wednesday of an "evolutionary'' center that specializes in reversing the effects of aging.
NY Health & Wellness, at 450 Mamaroneck Ave., focuses on mid-life hormone changes while testing the blood for toxins, reducing weight and restoring vital nutrients and supplements to the body.
Dr. Timothy Morley, medical director, was joined at a ribbon-cutting ceremony by Harrison Mayor Ron Belmont, County Legislator Catherine Parker, Deputy County Executive Kevin Plunkett, Health Commissioner Dr. Sherlita Amler and Assemblyman David Buchwald, among others.
Amler said that 75 percent of health-care costs are spent treating chronic disease. And the surest way to prevent disease, she said, includes regular exercise, a healthy diet, no tobacco and moderate alcohol consumption. "NY Health & Wellness is a great fit for our fitness-savvy county,'' Amler said.
During a tour of the new facility, Morley described how his center offers a mix of the best of traditional medicine and holistic medicine, testing patients for such toxins as arsenic, copper and mercury. "It's a one-stop shop for wellness,'' Morley said. "We do some unique testing. We do some unique fixes. . . If you're not feeling very good, you should be tested."
Morley said about 25 percent of his practice involves misdiagnosed thyroid problems. "We look at the whole person -- not just the thyroid, or the heart or bones. We really find things that traditional medicine overlooks."
A treatment program is created for each client that combines the best of hormone and vitamin therapy, detoxification, holistic nutrition and stress-reducing exercise, according to Morley. NY Health & Wellness also is introducing a new weight-loss program utilizing Leptin, the protein in fat cells that regulates fat storage in the body and impacts metabolism, hunger and energy levels.
NY Health & Wellness founder Mitch Suss said, "We’ve created an individualized fitness, nutrition and psychological program, to be based on each person’s own hormone levels that will maximize and energize their vitality, virility and fitness levels. This will be accomplished by administering the proper nutrients, diet, supplements and vitamin therapy.”
Suss added, “Our program will allow each person’s biological, physiological and emotional systems to attain the right ‘fuel’ to get them performing at peak levels well into their golden years.”
