More than 100 organizations, some as small as the Mount Kisco Medical Group or Scarsdale Security Systems to larger entities such as Apple, the Marines and Peace Corps set up booths at the Hilton Westchester, where they pitched hopeful employees on their company and accepted stacks of resumes.
In all, 99 businesses and 10 colleges from throughout the tri-state area were in attendance at Recruit Westchester, making its fourth iteration the largest yet.
While the job fair provides hopeful employees the opportunity to distribute their resumes and get face time with talent recruiters, it allows employers the chance to acquaint themselves with a wider pool of prospects they might not meet otherwise.
“It’s good for all parties involved. We’re exposed to a different pool of candidates than we might see otherwise, and at a company like ours, where we have a variety of positions for a variety of skill sets, it allows us to educate (employees) about what we do and how we can help them,” Lindsey Garito, the senior Human Resource Acquisition Partner for Westmed Medical Group, said. “The local job market is growing, we’ve seen a good amount of quality applicants throughout the day.”
Miguel Ramos, the director of graduate admissions for the College of New Rochelle has been to each Recruit Westchester event, noting that this year’s event was notably larger than those in the past.
“This year things have really been great, there’s been a lot of traffic, which is really all that you can hope for,” he said. “The future is very bright. I’ve been here the last four years, there’s a lot more (attending) this year. There’s also a lot of prospects coming in from New York City, it’s not just Westchester anymore.”
