WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- As the Executive Director of the Methodist Home for Nursing and Rehabilitation, Maria Elena Perez needs quick decisions from her business partners. She has found The Westchester Bank to be perhaps her most responsive partner.
“There are many things that I love about working with The Westchester Bank,’’ Perez said. “But one thing that stands out is how easy they are to work with. We’ll email them about something and it’s almost as if they’re waiting for it , and get back to us right away. Whether it’s (President and CEO) John Tolomer or someone else, they reply promptly and ask how they can help.”
Perez has worked with The Westchester Bank for nearly seven years and has been the Executive Director for Methodist Home since 2006. She has worked with other banks. None of them, however, match the relationship she has maintained with The Westchester Bank.
“Right from the beginning, I could tell it was different,’’ Perez said. “They were available to come meet us at our facility, and continue to visit us periodically to see what we’re about and what our plans are. They are into forming relationships. I don’t think we’ve had any other banking partner who has been as involved.”
Seven Methodist women founded The Methodist Church Home for the Aged in 1950. Their vision was to provide a safe haven for the elderly. The home is now non-sectarian and provides a wide range of personalized short and long-term care to a diverse population. The Home has made ongoing improvements since it opened, including a new rehabilitation center that opened in 2008.
The Westchester Bank has been its primary banking affiliate, and Perez is glad to partner with the TWB team.
“When you work with them, you don’t feel like you’re talking to a person in another state or country that doesn’t understand your business model,’’ Perez said. “They’re local and understand the service you are providing and its importance to the community. That’s the big difference between them and other banks. They take an active interest in us and really want to develop a strong business relationship.”
