“We just wish people all good things in 2013,” said Sally Wright, head of the Rye Chamber of Commerce, adding that she would like to see an increase in business for everyone. She said she also hopes all empty storefronts will be filled with retailers and restaurants.

Arcade Booksellers owner Patrick Corcoran said he’s been working 24/7 since the start of the holiday shopping season, but said he hopes to sell more books in the coming year. In the larger scope of the business community, he said, “We have to watch what we’re doing very carefully; the economy is still not doing that well.”

Ana Sobalvarro, owner of Blush Beauty Bar, says she hopes the local business community keeps Rye alive. “Not only during the holiday season, but all year round,” she continued. “We need to make it more appealing to people who come to Rye.”

Helen Gates, executive director of the Rye Arts Center, said, “My newest resolution would be to bring really fun and exciting music and arts programming to the community. On a personal note, my mission would be to help people realize the role music and art play in their lives."

"For 2013, PlushBLOW is working on making our online presence more accessible," said Kristy Fidanza, founder of PlushBLOW on Purchase Street. "Our clients will be able to book appointments with ease and shop our PlushBEAUTY and PlushBRUSH lines and memberships from the comfort of their homes."
