WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- The first enclosed shopping center in White Plains could be headed for the wrecking ball, according to lohud.com.

Tentative plans for replacing the White Plains Mall at 200 Hamilton Ave. include a high-rise apartment building, stores, a parking garage and a park, according to lohud.com.

The Port Chester-based developer, Street-Work, has made an informal presentation to Common Council members but has not filed any applications or submitted conceptual drawings, according to lohud.com.

The mall, located within walking distance of the city’s train station, now houses eateries, a hardware store, the state Department of Motor Vehicles, a shoe repair shop, a hobby store, and other businesses, according to lohud.com.
