The talk is the next installment in Burke’s Legacy Lobby Lecture series, an exclusive monthly lecture series featuring key influencers and notable speakers. The event is in conjunction with Burke’s year-long centennial celebration in 2015.

Waizer, who is a Cantor Fitzgerald employee, was seriously injured in the 9/11 attacks and underwent extensive rehabilitation at Burke. In his talk, Waizer will discuss what the rehabilitation was like, how he overcame various obstacles on his path to wellness and how he’s doing now. There will be a question-and-answer session following the talk.

“We are thrilled to welcome Harry Waizer back to Burke,” says Richard Sgaglio, Ph.D., Director of Marketing & External Relations for Burke Rehabilitation Center. “He has had a remarkable rehabilitation journey and we are looking forward to hearing him share his experience with the community as part of our Legacy Lobby Lecture series.”

The lecture will take place in front of Burke’s Centennial Lobby Display, which showcases the history of Burke from its founding in 1915 up through today. Included in the exhibit are original McKim, Mead & White blueprints, medical equipment and artifacts, as well some of the technology being utilized at Burke today, such as a 3-D printer to make prosthetics.

The exhibit, which will be on display until December, is free and open to the public. The Sept. 9 lecture will be held from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the lobby of Wood Pavilion at Burke Rehabilitation Hospital, 785 Mamaroneck Ave. in White Plains. Light refreshments will be served. Seating is limited, so please RSVP by calling (914) 597-2848. For more information on upcoming Centennial events, visit Burke’s centennial micro site at www.burke.org/100years.
