Peekskill Vintage Mural To Be Unveiled Saturday

PEEKSKILL, N.Y. – Peekskill’s new public mural will be dedicated in a ceremony at 11 a.m. Saturday at Jan Peek Square at North Division Street and Central Avenue.

The 12-foot-by-16-foot exterior wall mural was installed in May at the center of Peekskill’s Downtown Historic District.

This project was created by Peekskill artists and residents Larry D’Amico and Sone Tower in collaboration with more than 35 local residents.

An antique postcard, circa 1920, that depicts scenes from Peekskill was the inspiration for the large mural. The project was sponsored by the Field Library as part of its efforts to archive and display local historic documents, maps and memorabilia.

The project was funded in part by Arts Alive Artist Grants, which are made possible with funds from the Decentralization Program of the New York State Council on the Arts, with the support of New York State. Funding was administered by ArtsWestchester.
