Nearly 100 guests attended the event held by UJA-Federation of New York’s Westchester Women’s Philanthropy. They dined on Israeli dishes catered by Admony’s falafel restaurant Taïm, which is in Manhattan’s West Village, and NoLita.

Admony owns four restaurants in Manhattan including Balaboosta, and Bar Bolonat. Her cookbook, “Balaboosta,” was published in 2013. Westchester Women’s Philanthropy Chair Lois Kohn-Claar, of Scarsdale, conducted a question-and-answer session with Admony to discuss her Manhattan restaurants, Israeli food, and meal preparation.

“As I look around, all of us full from this wonderful food, I think it’s easy to forget that not everyone has the opportunity to enjoy meals like this,” said Kohn-Claar.

Guests brought nonperishable food items to be distributed to families in need through the Bronx Jewish Community Council, a UJA-Federation beneficiary agency that offers services, support, and coordination of community resources to the residents of the Bronx, particularly older adults.

The food donation was part of the Feeding Our Neighbors interfaith response by UJA-Federation, Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New York, and the Federation of Protestant Welfare Agencies.

“Not everyone even knows where their next meal is coming from,” said Leslie Goldberg of Rye Brook, who chaired the event with Michele Budoff of Goldens Bridge, Jill Weisfeld of Scarsdale, and Wendy Zoland of Mamaroneck.
