Harrison Library Renderings Revealed Saturday

HARRISON, N.Y. – The community is invited at 4 p.m. Saturday to the Harrison Library to see “architectural renderings and capital campaign plans for the renovation of the Richard E. Halperin Memorial Library Building,” said a written statement from the Harrison Public Library Foundation.

Both the foundation and Harrison Public Library trustees have worked together on the design of the building along with H3 Hardy Collaboration Architecture, “a prominent New York City-based architectural firm,” the statement said.

“We have enjoyed working with an engaged community and an engaged client to envision what a re-invigorated public library can be for the citizens of Harrison,” said Margaret Sullivan of H3 Hardy Collaboration Architecture.

“Not only will you have a place that offers state-of-the art technology -- a must for a library today in this information age -- but you will also have warm, inviting, comfortable spaces for adults to relax and study; interactive environments for youth that will serve early childhood literacy; engaging spaces for teens; and flexible community spaces to support a variety of vibrant programming.”

The Halperin Memorial Building “will serve the community, providing the citizens of Harrison a reinvigorated public library that is well-deserved," Sullivan added.

Images of the building’s exterior, children’s area, teen center, adult reading area, community room, and business center will be displayed at the event.

A short video about the project, produced by Harrison filmmaker Tony Coash, featuring “interviews with fourteen Library users and supporters, including Mayor Ron Belmont and Library Director Galina Chernykh” will be shown.

An introduction to the public of the foundation advisory board and junior committee also will take place.
