Don’t let smoking define who you are. Smoking is not who you are; you are better than that. The tobacco companies have made the LGBT community a target, often by providing money to LGBT organizations, advertising in publications aimed at LGBT audiences and targeting youth. That tobacco use has become a “normal” part of LGBT life is thanks to the tobacco industry who were the first to develop marketing materials that specifically target the LGBT community.
We will meet once a week for 8-10 weeks (depending upon individual need) in a supportive group environment. You will learn how to plan and prepare for quitting, define the reasons you smoke, recognize the behaviors that need to change, learn how to deal with cravings, and ways to cope with stress, and current information about nicotine replacement therapy for those who wish to use it. With the support of your facilitator and the group, you can become a nonsmoker. For anyone interested, hypnosis is also offered.
Fees per person per week are a minimum of $20 per week up to a maximum of $50. The fee is dependent upon what you pay for cigarettes each week. For example if you smoke one pack per day and pay $7 a pack that is a fee of $49 per week.
