The event takes place on Sunday from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Lisa Keller, the book's executive editor and a professor of history at Purchase College, will also be on hand. The college is at 735 Anderson Hill Road, Purchase.
The encyclopedia's second edition includes 800 new entries that help tell the story of New York City. From the Air Train to E-ZPass to 9/11, the new edition boasts more than 5,000 alphabetical entries and 700 illustrations spanning architecture, politics, business, sports, the arts and more.
Jackson is a professor of history and social sciences at Columbia University. He is also the general editor of the "Columbia History of Urban Life" and has served as president of the Urban History Association, the Society of American Historians, the Organization of American Historians, and the New-York Historical Society.
