Irvington Aims To Extend Winning Streak To Four

IRVINGTON, N.Y. - Irvington is riding a hot streak entering its game with Putnam Valley, Columbus Day Monday, 1:30 p.m.

The Bulldogs have won three consecutive since opening the season with a loss to Briarcliff. During this current winning streak, Irvington has allowed just 13 points, including back-to-back shutouts of Riverside and Edgemont.

Irvington will look to make it four wins in a row and aim for a third blanking when it hosts Putnam Valley, which also enters the game with a 3-1 record.

The winner of this game will put itself in good position for a possible second or third seed in the Section 1 Class B Championships.

The Bulldogs and Edgemont were scoreless through three quarters last week before Kevin Degnan (125 yards rushing) rumbled 70 yards for a touchdown. Shoran Tamura plunged in from the 1-yard line for Irvington’s second score.

Senior Alex Bennett led the team with eight tackles, an interception and a blocked punt. Senior Chris DiNardo finished with six tackles.

Putnam Valley edged Ardsley, 7-6, last week. The defense collected five sacks and three interceptions.
