NORTH CASTLE, N.Y. Some North Castle residents revealed to The Daily Armonk their political preferences for the upcoming general election for the race between incumbent William Weaver and Howard Arden for town supervisor.
Ralph Capasso, a longtime town resident who lives with his wife, Ann, on Cox Avenue, said he thinks Weaver is doing a good job. We know Billy Weaver and were going to vote for him, he said. His firm is in town and he makes good decisions. I read some of the things the other candidates want if they get in and Im not particularly interested. They want to put in a manager, thats big bucks, so I would stay with him.
Weaver lost the Republican primary to Arden in September, so Weaver will run on the Democrat, Conservative, and Alliance party lines, which perplexed Barbara Fischer of Whippoorwill Road East.
I find it all very confusing, Fischer said. I dont normally vote for Republicans, frankly, so I dont know what to do with this. Ive got all the fliers sitting at home on the counter from the League of Women Voters and Im sitting there reading them thinking, how am I going to make a decision?
Arden is running on the Republican and Independence party lines.
Fischer said she probably wont decide which candidate to vote for supervisor until she enters the voting booth on Nov. 8. I wish there were more candidates for supervisor I could choose from because then I could do none of the above, she said.
A tentative voter for Howard Arden is Tony DeLuca of Trip Lane. Ive known Weaver for years and dont know Arden that well but hes been coming to meetings so now Im interested. Weavers not the best, so Im interested in Mr. Arden and may cast my vote for him next Tuesday, DeLuca said.
Another Armonk resident, Gregg Zeidenberg, said he was supportive of the current town administration. However, he did not specify who he would vote for, specifically.
People in power are doing a decent job for the most part, Zeidenberg said. Im sure there will be some changes to the landscape of the town, thats the interesting part. Theyll do everything the way it should be and hopefully the new projects coming up will pan out.
