Power Starts To Return To Pound Ridge

POUND RIDGE, N.Y. – About 35 percent of the New York State Electric & Gas customers who lost power in Tuesday night’s storm had their service restored by late Wednesday morning.

NYSEG reported that by around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, 700 of its Pound Ridge customers had lost their power when a storm carrying 50 mph winds tore through the area. By 11 a.m. Wednesday, 250 had had their service restored.

“We are well on our way to being back in service,” said Jim Perry, director of Pound Ridge’s Office of Emergency Management. “We were pretty fortunate compared to Bedford, which got hit pretty hard.”

Perry said there was one incident of a tree falling on a home, but no injuries were reported.

He said the storm kept the town’s emergency services pretty busy as the Police Department worked through the night, and the Fire Department and Highway Department worked until around 2 a.m. Wednesday morning.

NYSEG did not offer power restoration times for Pound Ridge customers who were still without power.
