Dutchess County, Groups, Businesses Take Part In Abilities First Expo

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Several Dutchess County departments joined community groups and local businesses at last week's Abilities First Expo at Dutchess Community College.

The first-ever Abilities Expo event highlighted services and resources available to adults and children with disabilities throughout the Hudson Valley.

Organized by Poughkeepsie-based Abilities First, the event was supported by state and local governments, regional non-profits and agencies involved in enhancing the lives of those with specail needs.

An adaptive playground for people in wheelchairs and sports league were showcased among various organizations and businesses at the Expo, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal.

There is a growing focus on the part of Abilities First that is centered on fun, adventure and enriching ways of enjoying life for people with disabilities, says the Poughkeepsie Journal.
