“He was tailgating my vehicle on South Main Street,” Detective Joseph Rutigliano Jr. told CLIFFVIEW PILOT. “I pulled over to let him pass and then activated my lights and sirens.

“But he refused to pull over.”

They continued into Wallington, where police there joined the chase.

The Toyota Camry driver, 63-year-old Edward Michalowski, “finally stopped when he got to his house,” Rutigliano said. “Then he began to scream at us.”

Michalowski was taken into custody and charged with eluding, tailgating, and failing to stop for a police vehicle.

He was released without bail pending a court date.
