Jeneen Gino, 42, posted $10,000 bail through a bondsman and was released pending an Oct. 29 Municipal Court hearing after being arrested at her home Thursday by Detectives Vincent Auteri and Michael Lemanowicz.
She is charged with theft and three counts of forgery for allegedly signing another’s name to checks made out to her, opening a secondary bank account without the PTA executive board’s knowledge and “preparing fraudulent bank statements to cover her previous activities,” Detective Capt. John Valente told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.
Gino was originally arrested in April on charges of taking $160 from a Lyndhurst Little League concession stand and forced to resign at the end of the school year as the Jefferson School PTA president.
She pleaded guilty and was ordered to pay restitution and court fees, records show.
A warrant was later issued when she didn’t make good, and police arrested her again in August.
“The fines have since been paid,” Valente said.
The Auteri and Michael Lemanowicz investigation that lead to the recent charges began shortly thereafter, when PTA administrators found discrepancies in the organization’s books, the captain said.
Subpoenas were issued to banks and then search warrants for Gino’s home, where Valente said important documents were found that helped secure the case.
