LIU Purchase Presents Child Psychiatrist For Lecture On Medication Risks

PURCHASE, N.Y. --  Long Island University Purchase Medicine is hosting Dr. Kevin T. Kalikow to explain how psychiatric disorders are diagnosed in children and adolescents and how to weigh the risks and benefits of medication during "Kids on Meds: Is Psychiatric Medicine Right For Your Child" on Monday, March 23, at 6 p.m.

A Q&A session will follow immediately after the presentation at the LIU Hudson campus at Purchase College, and Kalikow’s books will be available for purchase.

Kalikow is a child/adolescent psychiatrist who has been in practice for 30 years. He is the author of "Kids on Meds: Up-to-Date Information About the Most Commonly Prescribed Psychiatric Medications and Your Child in the Balance: Solving the Psychiatric Medicine Dilemma."

Kalikow is currently clinical assistant professor in child psychiatry at New York Medical College. He also teaches at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons.

He has been interviewed and quoted in numerous publications, such as The New York Times and has been interviewed on radio and television, including National Public Radio's "The Diane Rehm Show."
