Police had been looking for the vehicle being driven by Brett Augustowski, 32, after receiving several complaints from callers for erratic driving, when they received word of the crash, said East Fishkill Police Chief Kevin Keefe.

Augustowski, driving a 2001 Mercury sedan, was traveling east on Route 52 lost control and struck a house on the corner of Hosner Mountainview Road, causing substantial damage to the home. The car was destroyed in the crash as well, Keefe said.

Augustowski suffered facial and head injuries and was transported to Hudson Valley Regional Hospital where he was admitted, Keefe added.

The East Fishkill Fire Department and Town Building Department responded to the scene as well and the home was shored up to prevent further damage to the structure, he said.

The cause of the accident continues to be under investigation and no charges have been filed against the driver at this time, Keefe added.
