PURCHASE, N.Y. -- Craig Donnelly, at The Duchesne Center for Religious and Social Justice at Purchase's Manhattanville College, will sponsor, “My Dream,” a play to raise money for Children’s Academy for Student Theater (C.A.S.T)

The show will run Thursday, Feb. 27 through Sunday, March 2 at 8 p.m. in Founders Hall, Ex Theatre.

“I’m very proud of the cast and crew for bringing this script to life and taking the time out to help these children,” said Donnelly.

C.A.S.T is a program through the Duchesne Center where underprivileged kids participate in theater games, acting instruction, and improvisation techniques every Monday and Thursday night. After perfecting these skills the kids begin to create their own show. The money raised from “My Dream” will go towards sending them to their first Broadway show.

“My Dream” is themed after the principle of going after your individual dreams. The story follows Valerie Knight, played by Lori Belovin, an aspiring dancer who is trying to find her way in the dancing world in New York City. Valerie leaves Alaska to make her dream come true in Manhattan.

Knight encounters very harsh criticism in the beginning of her journey from Freddy Light, played by Nick Barbera. Until one day Valerie trips over a magic bottle and unleashes a magical Genie, named Mathew Angel, played by Anton Burek, who is ready to make her dreams come true.

“I love that we can make this play come to life and raise money for children to see a Broadway play, and allow them to enjoy the same magic we bring onstage,” Belovin said in a statement.
