Tornado in North Jersey? Residents say yes

No official source has confirmed it, but North Jersey residents say they saw a tornado this weekend, which would be the first for the area in nearly a month. Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli even snapped a photo of what looks like it.

It occured around the same time that a huge tree toppled onto an unoccupied house and two cars parked in a next-door driveway in Hillsade, Police Chief Chip Stalter said. Hillsdale police and firefighters converged with utility workers at the Liberty Avenue scene. Fortunately, no one was home, the chief said.

Molinelli snapped this shot from Route 80. Sure looks like a twister.

The National Weather Service had nothing on its radar, nor were there any reports to weather authorities. The last tornado to hit the area was at the very end of July.
