The tournament is taking place in support of the nonprofit organization, A Leg To Stand On, and Helping Hands of Norwalk High School. A Leg To Stand On is a charity that provides free orthopedic care, such as prosthetic legs and correctional surgeries, to children of the developing world. Helping Hands is a program at Norwalk High School that benefits students in need of financial assistance.

A committee of students and teachers are running the tournament with the help of local business sponsor, All Smiles, who generously has donated to the event. Last year’s tournament saw 32 teams compete and raised more than $16,000.

Norwalk High School started the tournament in 2010, when two students decided to raise money for earthquake relief in Haiti. The student-run tournament has seen growing success each year.

The tradition of selecting one in-house, local cause and one outside charity developed throughout the years in order to give back to the NHS community through the Helping Hands Scholarship Fund of Norwalk High School.
