Scarsdale JCC's Annual Gala Set For May 1 In Harrison

SCARSDALE, N.Y. -- Cocktails, entertainment and a silent auction are set to highlight the JCC of Mid-Westchester's Annual Gala in May.

The Annual Gala, which celebrates 20 years of special needs programming and education, is set for 7 p.m. Thursday, May 1, at the Renaissance Westchester Hotel, 80 West Red Oak Lane in West Harrison. Robert Arnow will be the Honorary Gala Chairman, Roger Kahn will be an honoree and Alison Singer will receive the Community Service Award.

Robert Arnow is a life trustee of the JCC of Mid-Westchester board of directors. Arnow is president of the Weiler Arnow Management Company and a member of Shaarei Tikvah Synagogue in Scarsdale.

"Robert has devoted years to numerous charitable organizations including The Jewish Week (founder and former board chairman), UJA-Federation (General Campaign chairman), Ben-Gurion University (chairman emeritus of the Board of Governors), Jewish Telegraphic Agency (board member), Lincoln Center, and others," representatives said. "We are honored to have him serve as Honorary Gala Chairman.

Kahn has been a patron of the JCC of Mid-Westchester for more than 25 years and has served as member of the board of directors since 2009 and treasurer since 2010.

"Roger has been swimming competitively for more than 46 years. Roger was a national champion in 1996 and has been ranked in the Top Ten in the World eleven times since 1991. He swims weekly in the JCC Masters Swim Program," representatives said. 

Singer is co-founder and president of the Autism Science Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to funding autism research and supporting the needs of families raising children with autism.

"As the mother of a child with autism, and legal guardian of her adult brother with autism, (Singer) is a natural advocate," representatives said. "She continues to be active in fundraising for the school and for the Special Needs After School Enrichment Program at the JCC."
