Verplanck Resident Nabbed For Drugs, DWI

CORTLANDT MANOR, N.Y. – New York State Police say a Verplanck resident had the smell of alcohol on his breath and a small bag of marijuana in the back seat while driving in the Town of Cortlandt. Joseph B. Connaire, 22, was charged with DWI and marijuana possession.

New York State troopers said Connaire made an improper left turn on the Bear Mountain State Parkway in the Town of Cortlandt and was pulled over. The officer said after he pulled over Connaire, he smelled a “strong odor of alcoholic beverage on the breath of the driver.”

Connaire was asked to complete a sobriety test, which police say he failed. When the car was being towed the police say they conducted an inventory, and found a small amount of marijuana and a smoking pipe on the floor of the rear passenger seat. Police say Connaire blew a .08 percent blood alcohol content when tested at the barracks in Cortlandt.
