Tyheim McGhee Sentenced

A Monmouth County man will spend a dozen years in prison after pleading guilty to selling cocaine to an undercover police officer, authorities said.

Tyheim McGhee, 29, of Asbury Park was sentenced on Monday, Jan. 29 to 12 years in state prison, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond Santiago announced on Tuesday, Jan. 30. He entered a guilty plea on Monday, Nov. 6. 

McGhee was sentenced to 12 years for first-degree possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute in excess of five ounces, seven years for second-degree distribution of more than a half-ounce of cocaine, and five years for third-degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance.

The charges come from an investigation in February and March 2023. During the investigation, prosecutors said McGhee sold more than a half-ounce of cocaine to an undercover officer four times.

Police executed a search warrant on McGhee's home on Borden Avenue on Sunday, Mar. 24. Officers found more than five ounces of cocaine and drug-dealing paraphernalia.

Drug investigators from the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office helped the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office in the case.
