The 3rd Annual T.J. Lobraico Fallen Hero's Dice Run on Saturday, Aug. 27 takes off from the VFW, 209 Main St. and includes a barbecue, music, raffles and vendors.

Registration is from 9 to 10:30 a.m.; kickstands up at 11 a.m. Cost is $20, rider; $10 passenger; non-rider, $15.

The 105th Base Defense Squadron and CVMA 19-5 Chapter will host the event, which honors the memory of Staff Sgt. T.J. Lobraico, who was killed in action while serving active duty in Afghanistan with the U.S. Air Force. He was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star Medal with Valor in 2015.

Funds raised benefit the T.J. Lobraico Foundation, an organization started by Lobraico's family and friends to "provide educational scholarships or support to people and organizations who exemplify service before self," according to the Foundation's Facebook page.

This year's event also benefits the families of West Harrison resident and National Guard Staff Sgt. Joseph Lemm, 45, and Coram resident Staff Sgt. and Louis M. Bonacasa, 31, a father serving his fourth military tour. They were among six Americans killed in Afghanistan in December by a suicide bomber.

Lobraico was a 2008 graduate of New Fairfield High School and attended Western Connecticut State University studying Justice and Law Administration. He graduated from Security Forces Technical School with distinguished honors and aspired to be a police officer.

He was serving with the 105th Security Forces Squadron at Stewart Air National Guard Base in Newburgh, N.Y., where his parents still actively serve. He had also served active duty with the USAF at Balad Air Base in Iraq from 2010-11.
