What To Do In Harrison This Week

HARRISON, N.Y. – Monday should be an exciting day in Harrison with a parade and festival. Here's a list of other events happening this week.

Monday, Oct. 8 (Columbus Day)

All Harrison Schools, the Municipal Building and both libraries are closed in observance of the holiday.

“It’s Great to Live in Harrison” Parade: 10 a.m. The parade begins on Thatcher Avenue and goes down Halstead Avenue ending in front of Town Hall. It will be followed with a festival for all Harrison residents.

Tuesday, Oct. 9

Open Play: 11 a.m. to noon. Parents, grandparents, caregivers and children can meet up to cool off, play, read and have fun at the West Harrison Library. 2 Madison St., West Harrison.

Staying Connected with Your Teen: 10 a.m. to noon. This Harrison Youth Council sponsored event will help Japanese parents stay connected with their teenagers. 2 Bruce Ave., Harrison.

Wednesday, Oct. 10

Circle Time for Tots: 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The two events at the Harrison Public Library are limited to 20 families with kids from one to three years old. You must pick up free tickets for the event in person at the information desk ahead of time. 2 Bruce Ave., Harrison.

Thursday, Oct. 11

ESL Course Registration: 10:15 to 1:45 p.m. The West Harrison Library will offer the Westchester Community College English Language Institute course for beginners from through Dec. 20. You must register at this event. Books for the course cost $35. 2 Madison St., West Harrison.

Mother Goose Time: 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Boys and girls three years old and younger, plus their siblings, can participate in this event at the West Harrison Library. 2 Madison St., West Harrison. 

Computer Orientation: 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The Harrison Public Library class is for people to learn the computerized library catalog and the Internet. 2 Bruce Ave., Harrison.

Friday, Oct. 12

Staying Connected with Your Teen: 10 a.m. to noon. This Harrison Youth Council sponsored event will help Japanese parents stay connected with their teenagers. 2 Bruce Ave., Harrison.

Senior Citizens Club: Noon to 3 p.m. The Harrison Senior Citizens Club will get together to discuss items of interest and play Bingo at the Veterans Building. For more information, call 914-227-7088. 210 Halstead Ave., Harrison.
