What's Happening Around Harrison This Week

HARRISON, N.Y. – A forum at Town Hall, library events and swimming classes highlight this week’s events in Harrison.

Monday, Aug. 27

Aquacise: 9:15 a.m. Aquacise classes take place at the Ron Belmont Pool in West Harrison. The fee is $75. Free for senior citizens with a Harrison resident card.

Westchester forum: New York State Assemblyman Robert Castelli will host a forum at Harrison Town Hall on mandate relief and jobs in the private sector.

Storyland: 10:30 a.m.-11 a.m. Children ages 3-5 will read stories, listen to songs and do other activities. Siblings are welcome. Harrison Public Library, 2 Bruce Ave., Harrison.

Story time: 10:30 a.m.-11 a.m. Children ages 3-5 years old can participate in this event at the West Harrison Library. 2 Madison St., West Harrison. 

Computer orientation: 1:30 p.m.-2:30 p.m. The West Harrison Library class is for people to learn the computerized library catalog and the Internet. 2 Madison St., West Harrison.

Board games: 4 p.m.-5 p.m. Friends and family members of all ages can roll the dice and play some old-fashioned board games in the Friends of the Library-sponsored event at the Harrison Public Library. 2 Bruce Ave., Harrison.

Tuesday, Aug. 28

Computer orientation: 10:30 a.m.-11 a.m. The Harrison Public Library class is for people to learn the computerized library catalog and the Internet. 2 Bruce Ave., Harrison.

Open play: 11 a.m.-noon. Parents, grandparents, caregivers and children can meet up to cool off, play, read and have fun at the West Harrison Library. 2 Madison St., West Harrison.

Women’s round robin tennis: Time TBA. The six-week athletic activity is in its sixth week and takes place at the Harrison High School tennis courts. For more information, call Eleanor Russo at 914-835-1410. 255 Union Ave., Harrison.

Tadpole swimming lessons: Noon-12:30 p.m. The Harrison Recreation Department will offer swimming lessons for children ages 4 and 5 at the Ron Belmont Pool in West Harrison. Children will get two lessons on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The fee is $80, payable to the Town of Harrison. Passidomo Park, West Harrison.

Karate class: 5:30 p.m. The Harrison Karate Club meets at the Mintzer Center. For more information, call 914-949-5265. 251 Underhill Ave., West Harrison.

Wednesday, Aug. 29??

Circle Time for Tots: 10-10:30 a.m. and 11-11:30 a.m. Children ages 1-3 are invited to the Harrison Public Library for story time, 2 Bruce Ave., Harrison.?

Movie at Harrison Public Library: 12:30-3 p.m. Patrons of the library are invited to watch “Leap Year” for free. Bring your own lunch; beverages will be provided.

Movie at Harrison Public Library: 6-8:45 p.m. The library will be showing “The Hunger Games” for free. Bring your own food.

Thursday, Aug. 30??

English language course registration: 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Patrons will be able to register for the ESL course at the West Harrison Library. The classes, which begin in September and end in December, are free. The books for the course cost $35. For more information, call 914-606-5656.
