He will continue the warm tradition, hosting the 12th annual Music for Parkinson’s Research concert on Sunday, Nov. 9 to benefit the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation. The afternoon of chamber music will begin at 3:30 p.m. at the Congregation Emanu-El, 2125 Westchester Ave. East in Harrison. Eger, founding co-chair of PDF’s People with Parkinson’s Advisory Council, co-founded the event with community members in 2003 to help promote research. Since then, Music for Parkinson’s has raised nearly $500,000 for Parkinson’s research, annually drawing more than one hundred guests and the support of nationally and internationally acclaimed musicians.
The Attacca Quartet, Quartet in Residence for the Metropolitan Museum of Art, will perform with pianist Gena Raps of New York, a Julliard graduate and faculty member at The New School in New York. Guests are invited to a wine and cheese reception with the musicians following the concert. “At PDF, we are grateful to Dr. Eger and his community who put their passion for music to work for the Parkinson’s cause each year," said PDF President Robin Elliott.
