'A Taste of Harrison' Happening on Sunday

HARRISON, N.Y. – Get ready for some of the finest cuisine in Harrison as the Friends of the Public Library host the food-tasting event "A Taste of Harrison" on Sunday.

For a $20 admission fee, people can sample food from 29 restaurants in the downtown. Event organizer Mena Gambercorta said the idea came from other towns in Westchester County, especially Port Chester, that have held similar events.

"We wanted to do something nice for the town," Gambercorta said. "We were hesitant at first, because we don't have as many restaurants as a place like Port Chester, but even the small places we asked were gracious to help. We are hoping this will bring the town together and people will come back to dine at these restaurants again."

Gambercorta said the event is meant to attract both Harrison residents and those from outside the town to bring in more business. She said the event is also meant to show people that they don't have to go into New York City to get a high-quality meal.

"You can't find a better price than what we are offering," Gambercorta said. "It is very reasonable even if you don't go to every place. There will be wine tasting as well. This is a win-win event for the businesses and the people who live in this great town."

The event begins at 11:30 a.m. and runs through 3 p.m.
