Harpers, 92 Main Street, Dobbs Ferry, (914) 693-2306
Cocktails Offered: Seven house cocktails on any given night; five seasonal libations. There is also a rotating Barrel Aged cocktail and a changing daily special.
Most Fun Concoction: With names like "Pecan Shandy," "Decorative Gourd Season," and "Thick as Thieves," it's hard to choose just one, especially as many change with the seasons. General Manager and Beverage Director Clark Moore, who admits he's a sucker for sherry, said his favorite at the moment is "Behind the Smoke Maples" which combines Calvados, Palo Cortado Sherry, Bonal (an herbal, wine-based aperitif), house-smoked maple syrup, and celery bitters. Other cocktails feature a range of seasonal flavors such as spiced butternut squash puree, house-made pecan milk, and apple cider reduction.
Shaken and Stirred: Small production handcrafted spirits are the go-to here, according to Moore who said he does his best to feature producers who are "doing the right thing--using natural and organic ingredients when possible." "You won't see anything artificially flavored or colored at Harper's," he said. They even make their own grenadine.
