HARRISON, N.Y. Residents of Harrison can now sign up for new and exciting programs being offered by the Recreation Department in the fall and winter. The town is offering everything from soccer and football to dance and drawing classes.
All of the classes and sports can be found on the Harrison Recreation Department website . Some of the ones being offered are:
Lil Cooks: 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. This educational and hands-on cooking class is offered in two sessions. Session One meets Wednesdays from Sept. 19 to Oct. 24 at the Veteran's Memorial Building and Fridays from Sept. 21 to Oct. 26 at the West Harrison Senior / Community Center. Session Two takes place from November to December. Each session costs $157 and a check must be made payable to Rose Carra.
Zany-Brainy Drawing Class: 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Kids from second through fifth grade can join this class for $139. It takes place Thursdays from Sept. 20 to Nov. 15 at the Mintzer Center. Checks must be made payable to Mike Teator.
Art Course for Adults: 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Harrison adults with a valid resident ID card can take this class for $240; nonresidents pay $270. The class, which takes place on Tuesdays, starts Oct. 2 and ends Nov. 13 at the Mintzer Center art room.
Ballroom Dance for Adults: 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. You will learn six dances in this class , which is for couples and singles. It will take place Wednesdays and Thursdays from July 11 to Aug. 23 at the Sollazzo Center. Call 914-886-2292 for more information.
Youth Football Player Evaluation: The time of the evaluation depends on the boys grade. Third-graders will play at 9:30 a.m. Fourth- and fifth-graders will go at 10:30 a.m. At 11:30 a.m., sixth- and seventh-graders will take the field. All of the evaluations will take place at the West Harrison Park.
