New York-born Lavan comes from a family of self-taught painters. Included in the show are her metal sculptures and watercolor paintings, all available for purchase. Using reclaimed items, she complements them with the use of new material.

As a counterpoint to metalwork, Lavan’s watercolor work focuses on traditional themes, particularly botanical-based subjects. Through Lavan’s eyes, translucent watercolor transforms into a painting that articulates the love of nature and environment in simple and colorful ways.

Lavan, a member of Mamaroneck Art Guild, has studied primarily with Brigitte Loritz, (Rye Art Center), Mel Stabin and Robert Perucci (Silvermine Arts School, New Canaan, Conn.).

Le Pain Quotidien is at 30 Purchase St.
