Soap is bad for the skin

Soap and cleansers contain surfactants that are essential for facial care. Water alone cannot rid the skin of oils, dirt and grime which we all encounter every day. Don't be afraid to wash with a favorite soap or cleanser at least once if not twice daily.

 Dry skin produces wrinkling

Dry skin does not cause or lead to wrinkling. The wrinkles that most of us develop are due to environmental exposure, especially sun exposure. Smoking, smiling, talking, and frowning also contribute to our lines as we age.

Drinking lots of water will improve our skin

Our body tells us how much water we need every day based on the color of our urine. Although water is important for our general health, more is not always better for your skin.

Pores can be made smaller

We need to be good to our pores and keep them open and clean. Cleaning and the use of tretinoin cream (commonly known as Retin-A) may keep our pores the smallest that they can be, but generally they cannot be adjusted.

We all need to moisturize

While cosmetic companies would like for us to use moisture cream five times a day, it may not be necessary. If the skin is very dry, itchy and red, then moisture cream is a good idea. Seasonal dryness may also require moisture cream during colder months, but it should not be a “knee- jerk” response.

The more expensive the cream, the greater the benefit.

There is no correlation here. Do not pay for pretty packaging and beautiful containers. A well recognized national brand that is reasonable in price is all that is necessary.
