The former Bedford resident recently published an opinion piece in The New York Times about his beloved Lake Wacabuc. He mentions Castle Rock, in particular, where "generations of beer-chugging teenagers have leapt straight into midair, to savor the thrilling three-second, 50-foot plummet."

His other top favorite swimming spots include The 40 Foot just south of central Dublin, the Andrew “Boy” Charlton on the shore of Woolloomooloo Bay in Sydney, Australia; Palm Beach, also in Sydney; The Highgate in Hampstead Heath, North London; The Western Baths Club in Hillhead, Glasgow; the Deep Eddy Pool. In Austin, TX; Barton Springs Pool, also in Austin; East Beach in Watch Hill, R.I. and Aquatic Park in San Francisco.
