Dominick Zumbo, 95, West Harrison WWII Veteran

WEST HARRISON, N.Y. – Dominick Anthony Zumbo of West Harrison died May 23. He was 95.

A son of Anthony and Conceletta Malara Zumbo, he was born May 19, 1917 in West Harrison. Zumbo served in World War II with the Army Air Corps from 1943 to 1946. He married Carmella Notch at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in White Plains.

Zumbo worked at Mamaroneck Gas and Electric for many years until his retirement. He enjoyed gardening and golfing. He was a fan of the New York Yankees and Giants.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Carmella; three sons, Anthony (Barbara) Zumbo, of New Haven, Conn., Peter (Patricia Ann) Zumbo, of New Fairfield, Conn., and Dominick Zumbo Jr., of Carmel, N.Y.; his twin brother, Frank Zumbo, of West Harrison; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Santo Zumbo; and a sister, Nina Amadeo.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, at St. Anthony of Padua Church in West Harrison. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery in White Plains. McMahon, Lyon and Hartnett Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
