Ex-Yankee Roy White Joins Advocates In Purchase For ALS Walk

PURCHASE, N.Y. -- Former New York Yankees outfielder Roy White joined Congressman Eliot Engel and a host of community advocates to take part in the 2015 Westchester ALS Walk in Purchase, N.Y.

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis advocate Pat Quinn, creator of the Ice Bucket Challenge, and State Senator Andrea Stewart-Cousins were also on hand June 14 at Manhattanville College, 2900 Purchase St., to raise money for an ALS cure.

Sponsored by The ALS Association, the Greater New York Chapter has currently raised $172,794.10 or 77 percent of its Walk to Defeat ALS goal of $225,000.

Engel, a Congressman with the 16th District, authored the 2008 Registry Act. The provision established the first-ever registry of ALS patients.
