HARRISON, N.Y. - Judith Dempsey, a former St. Vincent's Hospital nurse for 20 years, died on Oct. 22. She was 71.
The daughter of Paul and Margaret Dempsey, she was born in New Rochelle on Jun. 15, 1940. Dempsey, most recently of Larchmont, attended St. Augustine grammar school, Resurrection High School and St. Vincent School of Nursing in New York City.
She received a bachelor's degree from College of Mt. St. Vincent, as well as two Master's degrees and a doctorate in Nursing Education at the Teachers College at Columbia University.
After 20 years at St. Vincent's Hospital in Harrison, she went on teach at Mt. Vernon School of Nursing. In 2001, she retired from teaching.
Dempsey is survived by her friend Teresa Curry and two godchildren. Friends may visit from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday at John J. Fox Funeral Home in Larchmont. A funeral mass will take place on Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Augustine Church in Larchmont, with interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
