HARRISON, N.Y. George A. Fengler, formerly of Harrison, died May 21 at Treasure Coast Hospice in Stuart, Fla. He was 80.
He was born July 25, 1931 in Port Chester to George and Helen Fengler and raised in Mamaroneck, Fengler graduated from Mamaroneck High School in 1950, where he got the nickname "Crazy Legs" for his talent on the football field.
He married his high school sweetheart, Beatrice Lopes, in 1952 and served in the Navy during the Korean Conflict. Fengler was a resident of Harrison for 35 years before retiring to Stuart in 1992.
Surviving are his wife, Beatrice; a daughter, Georg-ann (Kelly) Gigliotti, of West Winfield, N.Y.; a son, Jack (Sandra) Fengler, of North Babylon, N.Y.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Pompei and Anna Webber.
Visitation is from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday at Coxe and Graziano Funeral Home in Mamaroneck. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Friday at St. Gregory the Great Church in Harrison.
