Harrison Mayor Ron Belmont Discusses Festa, Updates To Wilding Park

HARRISON, N.Y. – This year’s St. Anthony’s Festa took place in West Harrison June 5-7. Once again, this highly anticipated annual celebration had scores of residents, and visitors, attending the festivities and enjoying the food, games and attractions.

Food vendors provided popular Festa favorites that included sausage and peppers, pasta and fresh cannoli. Children’s activities, music, dancing and carnival rides were enjoyed by Festa-goers, young and old. The event was a big hit and provided a fantastic way to showcase our community’s rich Italian heritage. Congratulations to all involved.

I would like to take this opportunity to recognize the community organizers of I Heart Harrison and thank all the volunteers who participated in the Wilding Park restoration project. The playground and park received some fresh paint, pressure washing, new plantings, benches and garbage pails. The hard work and effort put forth by volunteers and town personnel will ensure that children, and their families, will be able to enjoy the park even more.

Recently, my office was contacted by Con Ed’s Government Relations Office. Con Edison crews have been hard at work getting their electric delivery system ready to handle summer heat waves this year. The company has invested in new equipment and upgrades and would like to remind customers to conserve energy this summer.

With summer right around the corner, you may want to make plans for visiting our town pools. Both the Ron Belmont Pool Complex and the Bernie Guanini Brentwood Pool and Park are currently open. For fee schedules and additional information, click here or call your neighborhood pool.

I would like to take this time recognize the downtown Harrison, West Harrison and Purchase Fire Departments. All three departments recently held their annual memorial ceremonies in remembrance of their members and fallen heroes.

The next “Lunch with the Mayor” is Friday. I will be at Powell’s Clam Bar and Grill, 58 Halstead Ave., from 12:30-1:30 p.m. and look forward to meeting with residents and talking about issues facing our community.
