DelTorto was recognized by Friends of Westchester County Parks for his many years of service to the county parks and his unwavering dedication to invasive vine cutting, which helps to free native trees and increase the health and sustainability of growth.

This year's theme was "Celebrate a Year of Growth with Friends."

In addition to DelTorto, this year's honorees were Westchester Medical Center, Business Council of Westchester’s Rising Stars and REI.

As the largest and most active organization advocating for the county park system, it is the mission of Friends of Westchester County Parks to encourage continued investment in Westchester County’s 18,000 acres of parks, trails and open spaces. Since its inception in 1977, Friends has held close to the notion that it is critical to provide ongoing support for maintenance, civic improvement and access to nature.

“We celebrated the achievements of our ‘friends’ of Westchester County Parks and we saluted deserving honorees who have contributed to keeping our county parks green and growing,” said Joanne Fernandez, chair of Friends of Westchester County Parks. “We also had the opportunity to celebrate all of the wonderful programs we have been able to fund in order to keep our 50 county parks growing and beautiful, including Bicycle Sundays, Pitch in for Parks and Winter Wonderland, to name a few.”
