Kruk Tells Spooky Stories at Warner Library

TARRYTOWN, N.Y. – Before he told some spooky stories, Jonathan Kruk told the group of children gathered at Warner Library to reach into the air and catch the stories. Then he asked everyone to say “One spooky story, two spooky stories, three spooky stories!”

“When you get to three spooky stories, throw the spooky stories that you caught into my hat,” Kruk said.

Kruk told the children that after they had thrown their stories into his hat, he'd know exactly what kind of stories to tell.

“If you have extra stories, put them in your ear and you can make them up later,” he said.

The Friends of the Warner Library sponsored a night of Kruk's storytelling on Thursday night. Kruk told a few Halloween stories set in the Tarrytown area.

Although the stories had spooky themes, they didn't have the audience screaming in terror. Most everyone in the upstairs room sat enthralled while Kruk acted out the different voices of the characters in the story, laughed when he made faces and followed his command when he asked them to join in the storytelling.
