Letter: Belmont Has Answer to Harrison MTA Project

HARRISON, N.Y. - The following letter was sent to Harrison reporter Phil Corso in response to Tuesday night's political forum.

In the letter, Harrison Chamber of Commerce President Ada Angarano discusses a question she asked to candidates for mayor Ron Belmont (R, C, I) and incumbent Joan Walsh (D) regarding the town's ongoing Metropolitan Transportation Authority discussion.

I asked, "What will you do to revitalize the downtown area if the MTA project never happens?"

Ron Belmont answered it honestly by saying that it needs to be revitalized now with fixed sidewalks, hanging flower baskets, and someone to clean the sidewalks. But Joan Walsh turned it around and never gave an answer.

It appears that this is the only subject she is fixated on and with the present financial shape the MTA is in, this project most likely will never happen, at least in the near future.

The leader of this town should have had a plan to clean up our downtown business district, and it should have taken precedence over an imaginary project!

Ron Belmont gave wonderful suggestions that could and should be done without any huge expense to the town, now.
