PORT CHESTER, N.Y. - The following letter was sent to Harrison reporter Phil Corso detailing why Republican and Conservative candidate David Gelfarb would be a suitable county legislator for District 6. Gelfarb will run for the position in November's general election against Dan Brakewood (D).
District 6 represents Harrison, Rye and Port Chester on the county Board of Legislators.
I am excited to support David Gelfarb on Nov. 8 to become the next County Legislator representing Port Chester, Harrison and Rye Brook. I also congratulate Gelfarb on his recent endorsement by New Yorkers for Growth (NYFG). As many people are fleeing Westchester County and New York State because of the ridiculously high taxes, NYFG supports those fiscally responsible candidates who will advocate for policies that lower taxes and spur economic growth.
Gelfarb's lower tax message and NYFG endorsement is a stark contrast to the CSEA labor union endorsement received by his opponent, Dan Brakewood. It is the CSEA that opposes a proposal by County Executive Astorino to have county employees contribute towards their health care benefits and save the tax payer $19 million and avoid about 250 layoffs. Gelfarb supports this reform and I trust him to stand up to the special interests that only seek to increase spending and taxes.
Gelfarb has a solid record as a Rye Town Councilman that includes lowering taxes and spending and increasing the Town's fund balance since he has been in office. I know he will take that same spirit and record of accomplishment to the County Legislator, since he has done it already. Gelfarb's opponent is not able to show you a record of cutting taxes and spending because all of his votes are to the contrary.
Fiscal sanity and lower taxes are needed at every level of government, so I encourage you to vote for David Gelfarb on Nov. 8.
