Letter: 'It's Time for a Change in Harrison'

HARRISON, N.Y. - The following letter was sent to Harrison reporter Phil Corso in response to last week's findings of Mayor Joan Walsh's "unfair" political ads. In the letter, Harrison resident Pat Angarano discusses his endorsement of Ron Belmont (R, C, I) for mayor over incumbent Joan Walsh (D).

I have been very disappointed with the political ads and mailers from the Walsh Team. These ads contained information laying blame (as usual for our Mayor) for the financial situation of our town finances.

This information was littered with misinformation and untruths. So much so, that when brought to the attention of the Fair Campaign Committee, they were deemed "unfair."

After this, the Walsh Team sent out two more ads, which were particularly insulting to the intelligence of the Harrison Community. Do they really think that we cannot read and have to have ridiculous sophomoric pictures to get their message across?

In my opinion, these ads were the last resort of a limited mind. This is grasping at straws. Since they have no solid information, they are determined to besmirch the image of the Belmont Team.

Mayor Walsh's entire tenure as mayor of Harrison is one of intimidation, and do as I say not as I do. This mayor has been in office for almost four years but still cannot list her accomplishments. She instead continues to bash the opponent.

The mayor has said that she focused on the finances of our town for four years. There are other facets of being mayor that are beyond the finances. Take a look at how she represented the Harrison community for the Westchester Joint Water Works.

Our water bills have doubled due to her representation. When will Mayor Walsh take ownership of her office and the issues that go along with it?

She is always crying the prior administration. Does she realize she is the prior administration now?

With all of the scandals and the adversarial environment of the Walsh administration, it is time for a change. Bring back the pride, integrity, and the image that Harrison deserves.

Vote for the entire Belmont Team on Nov. 8, rain or shine.
