HARRISON, N.Y. - Angelo Mauro, a longtime resident of Harrison, died Feb. 16 at the age of 87.
He was born Sept. 27, 1924 in Calitri, Avelino, Italy, to the late Giovani and Maria Antonia Mauro. He served in the Italian Army during World War II. Mauro was taken as a prisoner of war and received the Italian War Cross of Merit.
Mauro immigrated to the U.S. in 1956 and first lived in New Rochelle. A resident of Harrison since 1968, he was self-employed as a landscaper for over 40 years. Mauro was a proud member of the John Cabot Club.
He is survived by his wife, the former Rosaria Sagliocco, his daughters Antonietta (John) Trinchitella and Maria (Antonio) Alves, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by four brothers and five sisters.
Visitation is from 4 to 9 p.m. on Friday at Coxe & Graziano Funeral Home in Mamaroneck. The funeral mass starts at 10 a.m. on Saturday at St. Gregory's Church in Harrison. Interment to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
