Mayor Walsh: Harrison Shelter Supplies Limited

HARRISON, N.Y. - Mayor and Supervisor Joan Walsh said in an email on Saturday that residents should bring certain items with them to local shelters as supplies were limited.

Harrison hosts two storm shelters, with one at the downtown fire department on Harrison Avenue and the other in West Harrison at the Mintzer Senior/Community Center.

"If you decide to go there, please bring blankets and pillows and snacks, as well as all medicines and your house keys," Walsh said. "We have a limited number of cots and some food."

Residents are also encouraged to notify the police department of any downed trees so officials know what streets are still open.

Walsh sent an initial email statement to the residents of Harrison on Friday night with important phone numbers and information regarding the storm.
